Natural Elixirs Premium Signature Green Tea

Natural Elixirs Premium Signature Green Tea

A Natural Wonder

More than 500 studies have been conducted in recent years to determine the potential health benefits of green tea. In Asia, this smooth, delicate brew has been used for medicinal purposes for thousands of years.

Scientific findings have linked green tea consumption to the slowing or prevention of conditions including heart disease rheumatoid arthritis, impaired immune disease, and liver disease.

In addition, some studies have indicated that green tea may have cancer-fighting properties for cancers related to the bladder, colon, esophageal, stomach, and pancreas.

Natural Elixirs Premium Signature Green Tea

The tea’s medicinal properties - whether consumed hot or cold -are attributed to its rich concentration of catechin polyphenols, particularly epigallocatechin gallate, which act as powerful antioxidants that ward off disease and improve health.
Here are highlights of some recent studies that point to the health benefits of Natural Elixirs green tea.

If you think that Joe’s condition is simply another unavoidable affliction brought about by age, then you are surely missing out on an opportunity to stay young even as you grow older. This is no fairytale, just smart science.

EU Ecolabel for Consumers

When you’re rushing round the aisles of the supermarket or picking up something from the shop, with so many green labels and claims lining the shelves, it can be hard to tell which ones to trust. The EU Ecolabel logo makes it simple to know that a product or a service is both environmentally friendly and good quality. It’s easy to recognise and reliable. The logo can be found on the packaging of every EU Ecolabel product.

Heart Disease
  • A 25-year study of people drinking more than 8.5 ounces of tea daily revealed a lower risk of coronary heart disease than those whose green tea consumption was less.
  • Also, the study found that the rate of first heart attacks and potential risk of dying from cholesterol-related heart disease issues was notably reduced.
  • A Japanese study found a meaningful decrease in cholesterol levels among men who had a high intake of green tea. Other animal studies have confirmed these findings and revealed that green tea contributes to lower serum cholesterol levels.
Heart Disease

Discover the types of products and services that can be EU Ecolabelled.
To qualify for Ecolabel, products have to comply with a tough set of criteria. These environmental criteria, set by a panel of experts from a number of stakeholders, including consumer organisations and industry, take the whole product life cycle into account – from the extraction of the raw materials, to production, packaging and transport, right through to your use and then your recycling bin.
This life cycle approach guarantees that the products’ main environmental impacts are reduced in comparison to similar products on the market.

Fitness-for-use criteria also guarantee good product performance. Take washing-up liquids: from the extraction of raw materials and factory production to packaging and use, every stage of an EU Ecolabelled product is checked to assess where the main environmental impacts of the product occur. With washing-up liquids, the biggest environmental impacts happen when products are used, as chemicals enter contact with people, when they are discharged into the environment through waste water and when packaging is disposed. EU Ecolabel minimises the use of hazardous substances and substances that may be harmful to the aquatic environment. Substances contained in the products are also highly biodegradable, so they are less damaging when they flow into the waste water system. Packaging is also reduced as much as possible and fitness-for-use criteria guarantee the efficient performance of the product. This means you can be sure your washing-up liquid is just as effective as any other on the market, but kinder to the environment.

The label has been awarded to thousands of different products across Europe, including soaps and shampoos, baby clothes, paints and varnishes, electrical goods and furniture, as well as services, like hotels and campsites.
So the next time you’re grocery shopping, booking a hotel, looking for a TV or computer, buying baby clothing or purchasing paint, look out for the official EU Ecolabel logo. The EU Ecolabel makes green choices easy.

12 Toxic & Carcinogenic Ingredients Found In Beauty & Skin Care Products

The Environmental Working Group (EWG), a non-profit research organization set up to protect public health and the environment, discovered that over 1/3 of all personal care products contain at least one cancer-causing ingredient. “Deep moisturising” skin creams and lotions were guilty of this in particular. 57 % contain chemicals which accelerate the absorption of harmful toxins from the product faster and deeper into skin and subsequently, blood.

Results from a product survey conducted by the EWG in 2004 : Over 25 % of all women and one in every 100 men use at least 15 products daily that could contain toxins and carcinogens.

PEG (Polyethlyne Glycol)

Created by ethoxylating Propylene Glycol. Dangerous levele of dioxin have been found as a by-product of the ethoxylation process. PEGs are in everything including personal care, baby care and sunscreen lotion.

Synthetic antibacterial ingredient. EPA registers it as a pesticide, posing risks to human health and environment. Classified as a chlorophenol, chemicals suspected of causing cancer in humans.

Propylene Glycol (PG) & Butylne Glycol

Petroleum plastics. PG is so toxic it requires safety clothing and disposal by burying. Direct contact with skin causes brain, liver and kidney abnormalities.

DMDM Hydantoin, Diazolidinyl Urea and Imidazolidinyl Urea

Used as preservatives and can release formaldehyde. Formaldehyde is a sensitizer and a proven carcinogen. Exposure to formaldehyde may cause joint pain, depression, headaches, chest pains, ear infections, chronic fatigue, dizziness and loss of sleep.

Found in numerous products. Usually not listed on labels. Health effects include damage to liver / kidneys, birth defects, decreased sperm count and premature development.

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate

Uses in car wash liquid, floor cleaners, engine cleaners and 90% of foaming personal care products i.e. bubble baths, body washes, shampoos etc as well as skin care creams and more. A known skin and eye irritant and enhances allergic response to other toxins and allergens. Known to cause eye damage, depression, breathing problems, diarrhea, skin irritation & death.

Benzyl Alcohol and Isopropyl Alcohol

Both can irritate the skin. They are used as fragrance ingredients as well as preservatives, solvents and anti-foaming agents for lotions, sunscreens, hand sanitizers, sunscreens, and baby wipes. There is also evidence that these two alcohols are neurotoxic.

Classified as a probable carcinogen. It is a contaminant found in shampoos, body wash, children's bath products and other cosmetics with suds. 1,4-dioxane is a contaminant and not an ingredient, therefore it does not appear on ingredient labels.

Parabens (Methyl, Butyl, Ethyl, Propyl)

This is a preservative that is not always labeled. Used in skin care products and deodorants, has been found that is able to mimic estrogen hormones and has been found in breast tumors. Also may contribute to sterility in males, hormone imbalance and early puberty

An ambiguous term where many toxic chemicals are hidden under, including synthetic fragrances containing phthalates - a plasticizing material used in polyvinyl chloride PVC which can damage the endocrine system.

FD&C Colour & Pigments

Synthetic colours from coal tar contain heavy metal salts which deposit toxins in skin causing skin sensitivity / irritation. Absorption can cause depletion of oxygen and deaths. Studies have shown almost all are carcinogenic.

DEA (Diethanolamine), MEA (Monoethanolamine) TEA Triethanolamine.

A foam booster which is an eye irritant and causes contact dermatitis. High absorption through skin and accumulates in organs including the brain.

Possible Health Risks Include
  • Chronic diseases
  • Cancers
  • Developmental disorders
  • Fertility problems.
  • Cause cataracts in adults
  • Irritation of the skin and eyes
  • Organ toxicity
  • Possible mutations
  • Developmental/reproductive toxicity
  • Neurotoxicity, endocrine disruption, ecotoxicology, and biochemical or cellular changes

Cosmetoxic - The Real Face of Cosmetics

Exposure to cosmetic ingredients comes in many different ways –powders and sprays inhalation and chemical ingestion through the lips and hands. Numerous cosmetics also contain enhancers to enhance ingredient absorption into skin. Bio monitoring studies have shown that chemical ingredients in cosmetics such as parabens, phthalate, triclosan, and more are pollutants commonly found in the bodies of people of all genders, ages and races. The number of allergic reactions and skin sensitivities have increased and are rising due to the number of chemicals in skincare products and in the environment.

The issue has become a widespread concern as the accumulative effect of using toxic product has dire consequences on the immune system making it a slower and more challenging process to heal. These same toxins are found also in anti-freeze, engine degreasers and brake fluid that are used as industrial chemicals. Chemicals in skincare products like fragrances , creams and sunscreens are proven endocrine disruptors, which disrupt hormone regulation, reduce testosterone, reduce sperm count and cause birth defects such as lower birth weight(particularly in girls) and later learning disabilities. They are also known to be carcinogenic compounds and cause skin and eye irritation.

Products sold in supermarkets, pharmacies or health food stores do not guarantee safety. There is no authority or regulation in place that requires companies to test cosmetics for safety. Products and ingredients are not reviewed prior to going for sale on the market.

Why Certified Organic Products Matter.

Choosing certified organic products reduces environmental impact, as the ingredients are biodegradable and do not require the use of chemicals for agricultural cultivation. Organic farming promotes healthier soil and sustainability.

Products manufactured in smaller batches contain higher concentrations of bioactive ingredients and utilise fewer resources.

  • Mass produced products are often made in Third World countries and support cheap labour and unethical work practices and conditions.
  • Annually, hundreds of thousands of animals hurt to test the safety and efficacy of cosmetics, skincare products and household cleaning products. Purchasing products that are not tested on animals will end animal cruelty and sends a powerful message to multinationals that still condone these practices.
  • Organic products are more expensive to produce and smaller companies produce fresher and smaller batches as their expenditure goes into implementing sustainable practices and purchasing fair trade ingredients.
  • Words like "natural" and "organic" can be used on labelling, in marketing and even in the company name without regulatory interference and more often than not, these same products contain synthetic chemicals. Products labelled as organic can contain as little as 10% organic ingredients whether by volume or weight. Logos are created to set the illusion of the product being organic. Become familiar with all labels and read the INCI (ingredient list) and look for organic certification by an accredited body such as ICEA. These are European standards are and are the most stringent in the world with regards to product ingredients. Certified manufacturers are audited independantly, hence must comply with the ingredient criteria set by these stringent standards.
  • The cosmetic industry is self-regulation and is reviewed by the Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) panel. During the past 30 years, only 11 ingredients or chemical groups officially listed as unsafe. In addition to this, its rulings on restricting use of these ingredients are not in any way binding.
  • Companies using terms on their labels such as "hypoallergenic” or "natural” are not regulated and do not require proof or test research to corroborate such claims. The value in using these claims is purely for promotional purposes. There is no official definition regulation the term "natural” used in personal products.
  • Companies withhold come chemical ingredients deemed as trade secrets, nano elements and fragrance components, which have high irritancy profiles from their product labels. Fragrances may include over 3,000 chemicals, which do not require listing. Tests have shown that fragrance ingredients contain an average of 14 hidden compounds per formulation.

Companies need to be held accountable by consumers I order to change the face of the industry as it is nearly impossible for regulatory bodies to police them. The best choice consumers have is to choose products which are certified organic by a reputable, independent body in order to safeguard their health and lives.

40%-50% Children absorb more than adults placing them at higher risk for diseases later in life when exposed to toxins.

The Ugly Truth About Looking Good

Personal care is arguably the most important regime in our daily lives. It is a necessity for hygiene and subsequently for beauty. The industry’s commercial value is deep into billions of dollars globally.

The Worldwide Cosmetic Market & industry, hits sales at an astronomical rate : approximately $170,000,000,000 dollars per annum.

  • $60,000,000,000 in Europe
  • $60,000,000,000 in Australia & Asia
  • $40,000,000,000 in the Americas
  • $10,000,000,000 in Africa
* Source : Perry. “A Cosmetic Industry Overview for Cosmetic Chemists”

Chemicals widely used as preservatives in personal care products can cause harmful long-term effects.

Once these chemicals find their way into your body, they tend to accumulate over time because you typically lack the necessary enzymes to break them down. The skin absorbs upwards of 60% from what is applied on the skin. Women use an average of 15 personal care products daily while men use approximately 6. Each of these products contains an average of a dozen or more chemicals; carcinogens, neurotoxins and contains reproductive toxins. The skin is not just the largest organ but the thinnest with 1/10th of an inch separating you from a variety of toxins. Skin is highly permeable; hence whatever is applied to the skin accessed the bloodstream. There are thousands of skincare brands in the market and 99% of these products contain one or more ingredients that have never been evaluated for safety.

The cosmetic industry escapes scrutiny due to loopholes such as:

"Hypoallergenic" – Zero actual testing is necessary to state this and its equivalents on the label; "hypoallergenic," "allergy-free," or "safe for sensitive skin." Regulating bodies including the FDA do not require the manufacturer to provide proof for these claims.

Harmful Chemicals” – Unless placed in the product intentionally, listing of harmful chemicals are not required.

"For Professional Use Only" – This statement allows cosmetic companies to remove harmful chemicals from their labels.

FACT : Women who use makeup daily absorb 5 pounds on an average every year.

Regulatory bodies do not act until and unless damage, as in injury or death has occurred.
